FAQ about Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

I've never had a baby so I can't have pelvic floor dysfunction, right?

Wrong! Everyone has a pelvic floor, no matter what age and gender and can have issues with it! I can see children and adult women/vulva owners no matter what age or whether or not they've had children! If you're a man/penis owner or trans client, Sarah Highland of Pelvic Floor & More can provide your care!

What conditions do you commonly treat?

I only leak a little bit. Do I need pelvic floor therapy?

Although leaking urine is often normalized, if there is leaking, there is often some sort of pelvic floor dysfunction going on and you would benefit from therapy!

Do I have to have an internal exam?

No, you never have to do anything that you are uncomfortable with! We can do external palpation or other forms information gathering if you do not feel comfortable with an internal exam. Internal exams do provide us with unique information about what is happening at the pelvic floor but there are always other ways!

FAQs about Insurance

Do you take my insurance?

Restoring Core Connections is an out of network provider which means I do not participate with any insurances. This allows me to be able to treat my patients 1:1 and provide the care they need and deserve.

I can provide you with a receipt (superbill) with all the necessary details and you can file an out-of-network claim with your insurance provider for direct reimbursement.

Depending on your in-network and out-of-network benefits, seeing an out-of-network pelvic floor occupational therapist may actually be more cost effective. With the ability to spend one-on-one time with my patients, I often see them for less total visits and am able to help my patients get back to the activities they love sooner than in a traditional insurance based model.

I am also able to address all of your concerns and provide you with the evidence-based care I know you need and deserve, without worrying about claims being denied by insurance.

You can call your insurance company to see what your reimbursement may look like for occupational therapy services.

Can I use my HSA/FSA?

Yes! I have had many patients use their HSA/FSA with no issues. A detailed receipt (superbill) can be provided for this as well.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

Occupational therapists have direct access in Ohio which means that you do not need a referral from a doctor to schedule an evaluation or receive services!
